The development
In the first year of its existance, the company was proclaimed the biggest green-field investment and received the distinction “Investment of the year”. At that point, over 1,1 billion BGN were put into the development of the GLOBUL network and services.
In August 2005, 100% of the company shares were purchased by COSMOTE Group – a major player on the telecommunication markets of Greece, Roumania, Albania and Macedonia. In spring 2006, the company changed its corporate identity in order to reflect the change in ownership and mark a new stage in its development – as an operator within the COSMOTE Group.
In November 2006, GLOBUL greeted its 3 millionth subscriber. At the end of 2007, the number of GLOBUL subscribers exceeded 3,8 million. The considerable investments made for network expansion and optimization allow the company to offer high-quality services to its numerous clients.
In 2008, with the help of the EU, GLOBUL invested over half a million BGN in employee training to the purpose of increasing effectiveness in customer service and achieving greater customer satisfaction. Along with the pursuit for quality service, in 2008 the company launched a long-term project aimed at environmental preservation. For the first time, a Bulgarian telecommunication company proposes a long-term plan of measures and initiatives orientated towards reduction of the environmental influence of its activity, encouragement of recycling and reuse of mobile devices and support of public projects to same purpose.
The services
We provide our clients with the full range of telecommunication services: mobile, fixed and data transfer, so that their freedom and pleasure in unlimited communication may be guaranteed. We continually invest in innovative solutions in order to respond to the ever-chaning needs of our clients. We transform challenges into advantages, in order to continue to advance together. As of the end of 2010, GLOBUL has 3.9 million subscribers, while its services are available to 99.98% of Bulgaria’s population, covering over 99.23% of the country’s territory. GLOBUL UMTS network covers 88.96% of the population. We offer roaming services in over 180 countries in partnership with over 400 international telecommunication networks.
The company possesses a license for fixed telephone services. GLOBUL was the first mobile operator in Bulgaria to offer an integrated solution for fixed and mobile telephone services – referred to as mobile virtual private network (mVPN), as well as the first SIM card with two mobile numbers – GLOBUL 2 in 1.
Since 2007, we have provided our clients with the lowest prices in Bulgaria for roaming calls towards European Union countries, and since 2008, we are offering new, attractive prices for roaming calls towards countries outside the European Union (EU). GLOBUL launched the 3G Video Portal service, including real-time television, news, weather forecasts and camera views from key points around the capital and mountain resorts. The company offers BlackBerry smartphones to the market, through which users receive easy and reliable access to mobile telephone services, electronic mail, Internet, text and multimedia messages, personal organizer and corporate applications in a single device. Towards the end of 2007 we offered fixed telephone services for corporate clients through the GLOBUL Office Zone service, and since 2008 we have been offering fixed services for private subscribers, through GLOBUL Student Zone. The latter is another inovative GLOBUL service, which provides our clients with a quality, user-friendly and flexible communication solution.
THE SUPPLY NETWORK
The company has developed a wide distribution network. GLOBUL offers products and services in over 430 points of sale throughout the whole country. Official GLOBUL representatives are Germanos, GlobalNet and Internity. The company possesses a network of 145 brand stores. We have successful partnerships with over 3000 distributers and suppliers.
