South-east Europe – our main market – is the fastest developing economic zone in Europe. The fundamental challenge facing us is to grow with a rate that exceeds considerably the growth of the economies in the region. The strategy pursued by us for investments in new technologies, innovations, geographical enlargement, and new product ranges and penetration into new sectors has been producing excellent results now for several years in succession. However, we do not deem this to be sufficient.
For the next decade, we have set ourselves an unusual objective – the transformation of Kaolin into a “green” company.
Huge efforts are to be exerted in order for a mining company such as Kaolin to attain a stage, where its impact on the environment is much more favourable than harmful. However, we are firmly determined to achieve it because it is our believe that the “green” orientation is strategically the more responsible model for our development, and from the business point of view could turn out to be also quite a profitable undertaking.
The “green” strategy of Kaolin comprises several elements:
Firstly, this is orientation toward production and offering of products and solutions directed at conservation of various components of the environment, such as limestone for sulphur purification installations for the thermal power plants, selected sands for filtering drinking water, etc.
At present, our activities in this field are focused on offering our traditional customers from the glass and ceramics ceramics sector such products and solutions that lead to increasing the energy efficiency and, respectively, lower emissions of carbon dioxide.
We are actively developing technologies and entire new product ranges intended for the construction and other sectors, which are based on the overall utilization of the raw materials extracted from our main deposits and result in generating zero or minimum waste.
Of course, the “green” strategy also means modernization of our production so that we generate minimum emissions of carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of the global climate changes. So that now, neither of our productions uses liquid fuels or coal.
We are convinced that amongst you – our customers and partners – we shall find more and more followers and adherents of our strategy. Thus, the club of “green” companies will grow, and for us shall remain the satisfaction to be one of its first members.
